I know you won't believe this but I actually posted THREE new posts today. I know you were waiting on pins and needles for my next update, so here you are. Jord and I decided this week that on Friday we'd go camping. Oh what an adventure it was! We had a blast but it took us three hours to find a place to camp. Here's our Friday night adventure:

We first decided to check out a location called Buriston ponds in good ol' Mona, UT. Well apparently we missed the Boy Scouts of America memo that the entire western side of the United States wanted to visit Mona, UT as well. We couldn't even find a place to set up a camping chair if we wanted to.

So, we decided to continue to drive, and drive, and drive, and drive, and drive. In fact, we ate a whole box of Pringles just driving when we happened upon a nice fellow in Payson, UT who pointed us up the Payson Canyon. So again we drove. We first reached Maple Dell camp grounds and had an encounter with a deer who was just asking for me to get out of the car and have a staring contest. Fortunately for that deer, we couldn't stay at this camp ground because it was a private Boy Scout camp. Those dang Boy Scouts caused us some major grief last night as we searched for a place to camp.

Finally, we found Maple Bench camp grounds and there was ONE SPOT LEFT! Hallelujah we found something. It was now 8:30 pm but luckily we still had enough light to set up camp. We pulled out our gear and settled down to some juicy hamburgers, s'mores, and roasted star bursts.

There was a little stream that ran right next to our tent to provide for some soothing background noise to fall asleep to or the constant sound of running water reminding you that you really did need to go to the bathroom but you just weren't going to go in the outhouse with mice running at your feet!

We slept really well in our little tent and then woke up to make pancakes this morning. They were great. Cleaning up camp took very little time and then we wandered our way back down Payson canyon.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this whole camping thing after 3 hours of searching for a spot but it ended up being another one of out great memories together. I think we might just do this more often. We decided on one thing from this trip though, no boy should get there Eagle Scout until they know how to find a campground on their own and reserve a spot too! This would have been a very useful tool!

Luckily, Jord can make one mean fire and he's pretty darn good at skipping rocks too!

Hilary, you still look like a million bucks when you're camping! ;) Those pictures made me remember our first camping trip, except I'm glad you didn't get snowed on like we did! I'm glad you're finding time for fun in between Jordan's studying and your work.
