We celebrated Valentine's Day this year in style. We went on a fun family reunion vacation with my family to Las Vegas for the weekend and the girls braved their first flight. On the way there I think I had a passenger or two ready to throw me out the window because of our screaming Sofia. She is going through this anxiety thing and for the entire duration of the hour and half flight she didn't only cry, she screamed. This was great as I was getting over strep throat and felt miserable and was wearing a mask so I wouldn't get the babies sick. The people on the flight not only thought I looked like a freak but people were whispering suggestions down the row to Jordan of things I should do to try and calm Sofia. For instance, "Maybe your wife should try giving her a Binky or something to suck on to help her adjust to the altitude change." Or maybe, "Your wife should really try giving the baby a toy to distract her." Really people? Do you think I just met Sofia yesterday. Don't you know she just drank her bottle and a quarter of Bella's? That green thing in her mouth is actually the pacifier, and my 4 and a half month old really doesn't care if you waddle a stuffed duck in front of her or not when she's in a panic. whew. After that flight was through we had a rather splendid trip in Vegas. We got home on Valentine's Day so we opted to celebrate it the next day.
As if you weren't aware, my husband is rather occupied with the whole dental school thing these days. Like 12 hour days of school and 4 hours of homework weren't normal for most people? I took over Valentine's Day Celebrations this year. I went to work cooking from sun up to sun down and of course had to get my "table scape" (thank you Sandra Lee) just right.
In the middle was Jordan's V-Day present: treats, chocolate peanut butter, a book he's wanted, a lighter for the dutch oven, and a trip to the Body's Exhibit at the Museum of Idaho. I saw it in Vegas a while back and it was amazing. I'm so excited to take Jordan!
Our perfectly folded rose napkins filled with red pretzel M&Ms (my new obsession).
All in all it was an enjoyable Valentine's Day. Jordan seemed surprised and enjoyed the meal. We are officially making that blueberry soup a tradition at our house. Man it was really good!
