A Twin Style 1st Birthday...A Week of Celebration!

They made it! The girls turned one-year-old on September 20th! What an absolutely incredible year it has been for all four of us. The birth of the sweetest things to grace the planet, starting dental school, moving across the country, and now a birthday! A wild ride for sure, but the best year of our lives! We had quite the celebration for these girls. One that lasted several days. After being in Kansas City with my parents for a couple of days, we drove them back to Omaha with us. Not before a terrible bout of a stomach bug for my mom who ended up in the hospital in K.C. the day before we left. We drove back on the girls Birthday and by this point everyone was feeling a little puney. My dad and I both got a stomach bug too. Unfortunately, we didn't really get to celebrate the girls Birthday too much on their actual Birthday but we definitely made up for it.

This is the sign I worked on for FOREVER for the girls! I think it turned out pretty cute. Jordan was quick to note that if you rearrange the letters you can also spell "Happy Father's Day"... haha of course!

This was the only real fun thing we did on their actual Birthday. My dad took them to Toys R Us to pick out a few things. The girls thought they should take a turn testing out the couches and recliners! I love that Sofia has her arm up on the couch! Too cute. They decided to opt for a different toy than the Tinkerbell couch though.

As soon as Jordan got home the day after their Birthday, we let them open their gifts. They were 'Wild About Grandpa' that day! I would be too if he got me all those fun things!

Bella was happy as could be with her new books!
Grandpa giving Sof a quick tutorial on paper ripping.

"Look Mom, I ripped it!"

Sofia has two loves in this world, books and clothes! She walked clear around the house holding her new prizes over her shoulders!
This was Bella's favorite gift. She is very adamant that she gets pushed around on this toy since her feet don't touch the ground. If Sofia gets to close she quickly tells her, "no no no!"
Grandma giving Bella a push on the Giraffe.
The Birthday girls with their daddy!
Sof already knew she was in charge before grandma said anything!
Sofia and Grandpa just click. They are best buds!
...but Bella and Grandpa can both be super silly!
Too cute! Everyone loves Grandma!
A few days later we had cake and ice cream with some friends to celebrate their Birthday.
The girls getting their cakes to blow out the candles.
Sof pretty much said to heck with the candle and started eating the cake while the candle was still burning. She ripped it apart and went to town! When I got her out of her high chair she started eating what she had dropped on the ground!
Bella was very careful to pick off just the frosting and sprinkles! She is a very dainty eater! I don't think she even tasted the cake, just the frosting!
The main cake. Quite the work of art, I know! I was not born to decorate cakes!
I made little favors out of baby food jars for the guests to take home!

Here's a video of the cake eating!

Happy Birthday my sweet one-year-olds. You made my life much sweeter the day you were born. You bring so much happiness to your dad and me. Thank you for choosing to come to our family! I love you Sofia and Bella!

Love,
Mom
