Spring Break 2012

This year for spring break we decided to Kansas City. It was a great opportunity to get away, swim, play, and see some of the amazing church history that is so close to us in the Midwest. We were only gone three days but we seemed to fit a lot in. We went to Liberty Jail. What an amazing place to visit. The sacrifice Joseph Smith went through during those months living in literally an ice box prison is humbling. The spirit was definitely present despite two little girls wanting to run around and play.
We are glad we got the opportunity to go. So much revelation was received in that spot so many years ago.

We were also able to visit Independence, MO. The best part of that visit was definitely the LDS visitor's center there. It was nice to get some history of the area and see the plot of land that the temple will one day be built on in the last days.

There was a special exhibit at the Visitor's Center by an artist named Liz Lemon Swindle. This picture of Christ is one of my favorite I've seen. I hope we can get a print of it someday.
We had a picnic in our car in Independence because it started to rain. The girls thought it was awesome climbing in the back of the car.

We even had fun in the hotel room. The girls explored every nook and cranny. It took some thorough searching to before we left to find all the toys they hid.
Swimming was an adventure for sure. The first night we went was crazy. The girls were so excited that they constantly tried jumping out of arms to swim on their own. Jordan and I were exhausted after 15 min. The second night was much better and they loved floating on their backs and splashing!

They love having pack n' plays next to each other but also having their own space. They both most definitely have their own bubbles and they make it very clear when one of them gets in the other one's bubble.
We stayed at a hotel where the swimming pool was the center of the hotel and all the rooms windows faced toward the pool. Bella sat at the window and longed to go swimming all morning.

We also found the coolest children's art museum that is free at the crown center. It was so fun to let the girls run around coloring, painting, and drawing. They had so much fun!

We loved this trip and the girls were so good. Last spring break we went to Kirtland and this summer Liberty and Independence. Maybe next spring break we will go to Nauvoo!

My favorite line "Bella sat at the window and longed to go swimming all morning"... I don't doubt that at all!
