Post Christmas Sickness

After Christmas we spent some time with the Bakers. It was Jordan's Birthday but due to several factors we didn't do a ton of celebrating so we are going to try a re-do some time this month!
Almost all the grandkids together at Grandma & Grandpa Baker's house.
Papa Baker put a zipline in his backyard and we had an awesome time testing it out. The girls loved it despite what Sofia's face indicates. She asked to go on it 2 more times after this picture!
After we left the Baker's, the girls and I went back to my house for two weeks while Jordan came home to Omaha and did an externship. That's when things went south for our little family. I got a really bad case of pneumonia and don't remember being that sick since, well, the last time I had pneumonia. After I started to feel somewhat better, my dad got pneumonia and is still super sick two weeks later. About two days after I felt better Sofia and my mom and I got the stomach flu. Not fun. Then to really top it off and make for a tough post Christmas, I had a miscarriage at about 7 weeks pregnant. A miracle that I got pregnant but a sad and discouraging ending. Knowing pregnancy is never an easy road for us, I take comfort in the fact that we got pregnant on our own. Hopefully someday that will happen again that we get pregnant on our own and can stay pregnant. It made for an exciting Christmas to tell family the good news and a really sad post Christmas to tell them the bad.
Our poor girls were bored stiff from all the sickness. Bella was desperate to entertain herself and did so quite nicely!
We stayed in our pjs all day for nearly two weeks straight.
My dad had one day where he felt decent and he took advantage of it by making a quesadilla picnic for him and the girls.
He and Bella watched a dog competition together. As you can see from the look on their faces they share a love of dogs.
More toy dumping and self entertaining.
We finally made it home once I felt a little better and they have been super cute to read books to each other. All that time by themselves caused them to turn to each other for happiness instead of me. That makes me happy.
My mom was such a blessing during these last two weeks. I don't know what I would have done without her help. Thanks mom and dad for all that you did!

I've never looked at your blog before, and I'm so glad that you commented on mine so I could see yours. I started crying when I read that you had miscarried. I'm so sorry. It is one of the hardest things, especially when getting pregnant is so hard in the first place. Hard, Sad, and so frustrating. I'll be thinking of you, and if you need to talk, I've been there:(
Christmas still looked fun! The zipline was so cool, I'll have to try and convince my family to do something similar!
