I have just started my second cake decorating course and last night was the second class of the course. The class covers everything from butter creme icing to royal icing and even fondant. Last night we focused mainly on fondant and I started making 6 of my 40 fondant roses I will need for my final cake. They take hours to make, but are so fun. This cake here was my first attempt with fondant. Each time you work with it you get better and better, but I suppose this isn't too bad for my first try. I love these classes and feel like I am really learning a useful skill and creating a fun portfolio. I can't wait until I start getting asked to make cakes for events! I would love that. I have decided by the end of the month I totally could reproduce the wedding cake we bought for our wedding. I might just have to try it!

Hilary, you are getting way good at this. You seem to excel in anything you try....your cakes are looking awesome! Good luck in finishing all your roses, by the last one, you will have mastered them, I am sure!
